This past Saturday, Eluminute welcomed young athletes from across the Bronx for an unforgettable afternoon of basketball, mentorship, and leadership at our inaugural College Coaches Mentoring Event.
The coaching staff included Coach Sade Jackson (Head Coach: Adelphi University WBB), Coach Carlos "Los" Acevedo (Head Coach: Pratt Institute WBB), and former college women's basketball players; Jade Vega (California State University, Fullerton and professional player), Sierra Thomas Clark (Adelphi University and Wagner College, former professional player), Simone Hobdy (Niagara University and Adelphi University), and Eluminute Founder Niajah Morgan (Adelphi University and educator)—each bringing a unique perspective and wealth of experience to inspire and mentor the next generation.

The event brought together an exceptional group of current college coaches, former collegiate athletes, and professional basketball players, each volunteering their time and expertise to invest in the next generation. More than just a skills clinic, the event was designed to expose participants to the knowledge, experiences, and life lessons that extend far beyond the game of basketball.
The afternoon began with a panel discussion where each coach shared their personal journey—from high school basketball to competing at the collegiate and professional levels. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions about recruiting, overcoming adversity, balancing academics with athletics, leadership, and what it truly takes to succeed both on and off the court.
Following the discussion, the coaches led an on-court skills clinic featuring drills focused on ball handling, shooting, passing, decision-making, and finishing. Athletes received hands-on instruction while learning the details and habits that have helped players succeed at the highest levels of the game. Throughout each drill, coaches emphasized communication, confidence, discipline, and the importance of mastering the fundamentals.
The event concluded with a second mentorship session, giving participants another opportunity to reflect on what they learned and ask additional questions. Conversations centered around confidence, perseverance, personal growth, and using basketball as a platform to open doors both academically and professionally.
Collectively, the coaching staff represented decades of experience across NCAA Division I, II, and III basketball, professional leagues overseas, and collegiate coaching. Their willingness to share their stories, answer questions, and pour into these young athletes created an environment that was both educational and inspiring.
Events like this are a reflection of Eluminute's mission to empower young women through sports, education, and mentorship. We believe that access to role models and meaningful relationships can be just as impactful as athletic training, helping girls build confidence, expand their vision for the future, and recognize the opportunities available to them.
We are incredibly grateful to each of our volunteer coaches for giving their time, knowledge, and energy to make this event possible. Your commitment to serving the next generation exemplifies what mentorship is all about.
To every athlete who attended, thank you for showing up with enthusiasm, asking thoughtful questions, embracing new challenges, and supporting one another throughout the day. We hope you left with not only new basketball skills, but also greater confidence, lasting inspiration, and the belief that your goals are within reach.
This is only the beginning. We look forward to continuing to create opportunities that empower, educate, and inspire the next generation of leaders—both on and off the court.
